What you’ll learn
Understand what makes a good service for your users and identify key problems in your own product and service in this 1 day course that covers an in-depth view of the 15 principles of good service design
You'll learn:
Understand the importance of designing products and policies within the context of services
Learn the difference and connection between digital products and end-to-end services
Identify what your users need from your service
Be able to quickly identify potential problems people might have with a service and establish methods for monitoring the quality of your service
Learn how to use the principles of good service design to build products and services that work for everyone
Have techniques to work collaboratively with others in delivering real change to a service

Understanding what a service is, what users need and how services are vital to successful outcome delivery for products and policies
Understand what makes a good and a bad service experience for your users, looking at how they find and understand your service, how they will use it, and how they may need support throughout their journey
Understanding the 15 Principles of Good Service Design and how to use them to assess how well your service is working
Learn how to use user journey mapping to spot potential problems and create a plan to fix those problems and test solutions
About your trainer
Lou Downe is the author of Good Services, the bestselling book on how to design services that work and the founding director of the School of Good Services
Lou is the former Director of Design for the UK Government where they founded the discipline of service design, growing a 2000 strong team of designers into one of the largest, and most influential design team’s in the UK - winning a Designs of the Year award and a D&AD lifetime achievement award.
Lou is a hugely experienced and engaging coach and speaker and delivers the majority of courses and coaching here at the school
How it works & what you get
This course will be delivered live in-person in Victoria (BC) from 09:30 - 5:00 PST (Timezone) with breaks throughout the day and 30 mins for lunch. After the course you’ll get access to the slides, a digital version of all of the tools used in the course and access to our global Good Services Discord community.

Tickets can be bought directly below. Prices will display in UK pounds and be converted by your bank into Canadian Dollars. A discount of 10% will be applied at checkout to the cost of one course if both courses are bought together
